Gigi Hadid is everywhere. You may recognize her from various magazine covers or on Taylor Swift’s Instagram. But who exactly is she?
Gigi Hadid, born Jelena Noura Hadid is a 20-year-old American model taking over the fashion world by storm. With her flawless complexion, undeniably good genes and a soaring height of five foot, ten inches tall, it seems like the modeling industry is the perfect place for Hadid.
Hadid was discovered at age two by Guess designer and co-founder Paul Marciano, and she began modeling for Baby Guess. After taking a long break to focus on school, she remerged into the modeling scene in 2012 when she starred in Guess’ fall/winter advertisement campaign. Over the past three years, Hadid has undeniably made a name for herself. She made her New York Fashion Week debut just last year, walking in Desigual’s Fall/Winter 2014 show. Since then, Hadid has walked the runway for many renowned designers such as Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, Max Mara and Chanel.
Hadid is a very versatile model and has been able to star in not only high fashion editorials, but also in ad campaigns. The young model has covered various international magazines including Vogue Espana, CR Fashion Book, Teen Vogue, V Magazine, Vogue Brasil and most recently on the cover of W Magazine’s September issue. She has also fronted many advertisement campaigns for brands including Max Mara, Tom Ford, Topshop and Balmain. Hadid is also currently the face of the makeup and cosmetics company Maybelline.
Her mother, Yolanda Foster, is a former model and a member of the reality television show Real Housewife of Beverly Hills. Hadid has made a few appearances on the television show as Yolanda’s daughter aspiring to become a model, but it is safe to say that Hadid has definitely made her mark in the fashion industry.
As modeling seems to run in the Hadid family, Hadid’s sister Bella is also aspiring to become a model herself. The sister duo has modeled together on various shoots including Balmain’s fall/winter 2015 campaign and the cover of V Magazine’s fall preview issue.
When Hadid is not modeling around the world, the California-born model can be spotted in skinny jeans and a crop top while shopping around Beverly Hills. You may also spot Hadid with her group of friends made up of A-list celebrities and models including Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Kendall Jenner. Hadid has also made appearances alongside her friends in Taylor Swift’s music video Bad Blood.
Gigi has cemented her spot as one of the most in-demand models and with her career just starting, we can only try to imagine how far she will go.
