Field hockey schedule released

After a 2011 season that ended with four straight losses, Drexel Field Hockey will look to right the ship when the team begins its 2012 season Aug. 24. The 2012 campaign starts at home against 2011-12 NCAA quarterfinalist Duke University. Two days later the Dragons will host Rider University.

They will then begin a six-game road trip, bookended by games against Philadelphia-area rivals St. Joseph’s University and Temple University on Aug. 31 and Sept. 16, respectively. The Dragons will head to Berkeley, Calif. for games against the University of California, Davis Sept. 5, the University of California Sept. 7 and Stanford University Sept. 9. They will then return to Pennsylvania to play Lafayette College Sept. 14.

Colonial Athletic Association play for Drexel begins Sept. 21 with a home game against James Madison University. Drexel’s conference schedule continues with away games at Towson University Sept. 28, The College of William & Mary Oct. 5, Old Dominion University Oct. 7 and Hofstra University Oct. 28. The rest of Drexel’s CAA home schedule coincides with the final two home games of the season, with matchups against the University of Delaware Oct. 19 and Northeastern University Oct. 26.
