On Sept. 25, Kamala Harris returned to Philadelphia, the city where she laboriously campaigned just last autumn, to promote “107 Days,” her campaign diary and memoir of the 2024 presidential election. According to Simon & Schuster, it is likely the best-selling memoir of 2025.

On the stage of the Met, Dawn Staley, a Philadelphia native and one of the highest-paid Black female coaches in all of sports, interviewed Harris. She began with the basics, delving into the root cause of Harris’s choice to write a memoir recounting her presidential campaign.

Harris responded that she adamantly rejected the notion that her position in history was being misrepresented or misinterpreted. She adjusted the button on her black blazer before rising proudly and pointing her finger at the crowd.

“This was the closest presidential race in the 21st century,” she declared.

“This would be the 249th day you would’ve been in office,” Staley reminded Harris.

“Should’ve been!” an audience member shouted. Harris shook her head and chuckled. Harris has firmly stated that she is not currently focused on running for office in 2028. Regardless, a slew of media outlets disagree. POLITICO wrote, “Kamala Harris’ memoir is a bid to absolve herself, and to leave the door open for another run.”

In “107 Days,” Harris outlines the period from the moment she received the call that Biden was stepping down to the moment she received the call that Trump was stepping up. Harris referred to Biden’s decision to run for a second term as one that “should not have been left to an individual’s ego,” calling his vacillating position “reckless.”

Several potential 2028 candidates for the Democratic Party have expressed disappointment in her unfavorable comments about them in “107 Days.”

While recounting her experience interviewing potential vice presidents for her own ticket, Harris expressed concern that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro would be “unable to settle for a role as number two.”

She also wrote that she would not bring on her ideal running mate, Pete Buttiegeig, because he is not a “straight white man;” she is of the opinion that America is not ready to have a White House without one.

She also remarks that Gavin Newsom never called back when she requested his endorsement, failing to acknowledge that Newsom was among the first to endorse Harris.

Harris did not elaborate upon these critiques during her visit to The Met. There, Harris focused on uplifting her supporters and instilling hope in them. She referenced her campaign slogan, noting that “‘When We Fight, We Win’ is true, but sometimes the fight takes a while.”

Hannah Slivkanich, a junior and president of the Drexel Democrats, shared her opinions on Harris’s candidacy with The Triangle.

“She really cared about the minority parties… that’s really a deciding factor for me… seeing people who actually care and who wanna make a real difference in communities.”

“Every day, I wake up…” she reflected, “are my rights going to be not the same rights I have today, are they going to be taken away tomorrow? I don’t think that would be a concern I had if she was currently president.”

“Maybe she didn’t do as well with the job at the border, maybe she did have some shortcomings, but at the end of the day I think she did the best that she could given the circumstances and I would still campaign for her the same,” Slivkanich concluded.

Harris refuses to capitulate, even when she’s not campaigning. “I really believe in you all. Gen Z is a larger population than Boomers. You only know the climate crisis, a historic pandemic. You are absolutely impatient with the rest of us and are ready to lead,” she pronounced.

“I’m not sure what the answer is, but we have to fight for this country we love,” Harris asserted.
