CAB announces Spring Jam lineup

Students were welcomed back from spring break last week with an assortment of campus activities and events, including the Spring Jam artist announcement, which took place at CAB’s Activities Unlimited, March 30.

The Division of Student Life hosted recreational events for students who were starting classes, which allowed them to familiarize themselves with student organizations, learn about campus departments and enjoy free food and music.

The rest of the week’s events provided students with informative and entertaining options, including an Electronic Resources Fair at Hagerty Library in which students were informed about the services offered at the library. Recreational Athletics hosted the bi-annual Rec Fest, which provided undergrads the opportunity to meet with club sports officers, register for intramurals and partake in an outdoor obstacle course.

Other popular events were Friday’s Flashback Roller Skating Party in the Armory, the 2011 Philly Spring Clean-Up day and the Intramural Beach Volleyball Try-On.

At Activities Unlimited, hosted on Lancaster Walk outside of the Drexel Athletic Center, it was announced that B.o.B. would be headlining this year’s Spring Jam concert, along with a performance by Major Lazer.

The station included posters of the two artists, which allowed students the opportunity to stop by and see who would be performing at this years event.

The concert will take place May 14 between the Main Building and 31st Street, and admission will be free for students. Spring Jam itself will encompass a variety of competitions and events, including Drexel Idol, Drexel’s Best Dance Crew and a pre-concert party open to all students.

Students have the opportunity to gain V.I.P. access at the concert through two separate contests. The first, which began March 30, challenges students to create a one-minute commercial advertising Spring Jam and its performers. Secondly, students may submit design ideas for this year’s official Spring Jam t-shirt.
