2015 Spring Jam lineup announced

Drexel University’s Campus Activities Board has announced this year’s Spring Jam lineup, which will feature Big Gigantic, Cherub and Youngblood Hawke with all artists performing at Drexel’s Lot F from 6-10 p.m. May 16. The announcement was made digitally through CAB’s website.
Big Gigantic are well-known for their saxophone and drums, likening their genre of music as “jamtronica.” The duo from Boulder, Colorado, has performed at such events as Ultra Music Festival, Lollapalooza and Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The two have a collection of singles including “Get On Up” and “Sky High.” They have previously collaborated with electro-indie duo Cherub, who will be opening at the event. Also performing is Youngblood Hawke, an American indie pop band from Los Angeles, who is widely known for the popular single “We Come Running.”

Big Gigantic is currently on tour in North America, playing at universities and music festivals in addition to concert venues. Cherub will be joining the group at multiple points throughout the tour, including at Drexel, though the group itself is on tour in the U.S. at present, with one show in Tokyo near the end of the summer. Cherub will be performing first, followed by Youngblood Hawke. Big Gigantic will close out the night with their performance.

Previous Spring Jam artists included OK Go, Super Mash Bros., Cheers Elephant, The Wonder Years, Man Man, LA Riots, B.o.B., Major Lazer and Krewella. Last year’s show, which included Radical Something, Logic and Krewella, garnered a large amount of the student body.
CAB’s president, Sean Marks, said that “over the next month, [CAB] will have different weekly events to promote and highlight the show.” In the past, Spring Jam events included three-versus-three soccer tournaments, Drexel’s Best Dance Crew and activity fairs.

The concert will be held outdoors, on Drexel’s Lot F, next to Main Building. Shows in previous years at that location have had all sorts of weather, but the show will be held rain or shine short of inclement or dangerous weather.
Tickets are available for purchase online on the CAB website. Tickets are $10 for Drexel students and $15 for guests and graduate students. Only two tickets per ID are allowed. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The link to the event and the ticket purchasing can be found online at CAB and DrexelNow’s respective websites.
