With the 66th Annual Grammy Awards just around the corner, here are predicted winners for each general field category.

Record of the Year

Record of the Year awards the artists and producers for the actual recording of the song and is often given to the most commercially successful song of the year — think “About Damn Time” by Lizzo from last year. Cyrus’s second #1 hit was everywhere this past year, being the fastest song to reach a billion streams on Spotify and topped the Global 200 end-of-year list. Thus, “Flowers” is the most likely winner.

Album of the Year

SZA’s second studio album has the perfect mix of commercial success and critical acclaim. Not only is the entire body cohesive, organic, and eclectic, but each track can hold its own- some notable ones being “Kill Bill” and “Snooze.” “SOS” has topped Rolling Stone’s and Pitchfork’s end-of-year rankings and stayed #1 on the Billboard 200 for 10 weeks. With all the success SZA has had this past year, “SOS” is the most likely winner.

Song of the Year

2023 was the year of Taylor Swift, so the Academy will likely use this category — one she has never won before —  to reward her for this momentous year. Song of the Year rewards the songwriters for the composition of the song, and this song is easily one of the best Swift has written. Swift has named “Anti-Hero” as her most honest song, as it explores her publicity, fame, and personal issues, and thus, it is the most likely winner.

Best New Artist

  • Gracie Abrams
  • Fred Again
  • Ice Spice *Predicted Winner*
  • Jelly Roll
  • Coco Jones
  • Noah Kahan
  • Victoria Monet
  • The War and Treaty

It’s hard to think of 2023 in music without thinking of Ice Spice. After signing to 10K Projects and Capital Records in 2022, she released her debut EP “Like…?” with singles including “In Ha Mood” and “Princess Diana.” Since then, Ice Spice has collaborated with PinkPantheress, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, and was a supporting act in Doja Cat’s The Scarlet Tour. She also holds the most amount of the top 5 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with 3, in 2023. Because 2023 was such an explosive year for Ice Spice, she is the most likely winner of this award.

Producer of the Year, Non-Classical

  • Jack Antonoff *Predicted Winner*
  • Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II
  • Hit-Boy
  • Metro Boomin
  • Dan Nigro

2024 is the first year where Producer of the Year is in the general field and rewards a producer for consistent creativity in production. Antonoff is the safe choice here, as he has won the award the last two years. He is the go-to producer for many big names including Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey, producing both “Midnights” and “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.” Thus, Antonoff is the most likely winner.

Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical

  • Edgar Barrera
  • Jessie Jo Dillon
  • Shane McAnally
  • Theron Thomas
  • Justin Tranter *Predicted Winner*

Songwriter of the Year was introduced in 2023 and became a part of the general field in 2024. In 2023, Tranter collaborated with Maneskin, Renee Rapp and Miley Cyrus, and their songwriting credits include “Honey! (Are You Coming),” “Pretty Girls” and “River.” Tranter’s work has been both commercially successful and critically acclaimed, thus, they are the most likely winner of this award.

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards are on Feb. 4 at 8:00 p.m. EST.
