The Office of Victim Support & Intervention Services will host "Can I Kiss You?," a presentation led by Mike Domitrz on healthy dating, consent and sexual assault awareness, May 4.

"He gets the message across a lot about consent and dating and talking about body language, and he does it with a sense of humor that students get," Candace Wannamaker, director of the Office of Victim Support & Intervention Services, said.

Since his message varies for each audience, Domitrz will give separate presentations throughout the day. Wannamaker said he will give a luncheon presentation for faculty, staff and administration to tell them what students are dealing with and learning about. He will then meet with 25 student leaders and teach them how to get students involved in listening to the message, and also speak at an evening program open to the entire Drexel community.

"I'm really tired of hearing people talk about 'no means no' and I love the message he portrays is that it's not teaching that 'no means no,' it's- did you even ask the question?" Wannamaker said.

The Office of Victim Support & Intervention Services planned on bringing Domitrz in for National Sexual Assault Week, but in partnering with Fraternity and Sorority Life, they thought it would be a good idea to host the event during Greek Week.

Wannamaker said she does not know whether there has been an increase in sexual assault, but that there are more students who are willing to come forward now because of available resources. RAs are one of the resources that are helping students come forward and get help.

At the event, audience participation will be weaved into the presentation.

"[Domitrz] will have students come up on stage with him and participate in a few skits and role plays to talk about reading body language and how well we all think we do it and how bad we really are, and then when you throw alcohol in there how worse it really gets," Wannamaker said.

Domitrz also donated 100 of his book "May I Kiss You?" to give to students during the presentation.

Fraternity and Sorority Life, Intercultural & Diversity Initiative, CNHP, Athletics, The Pennoni Honors College, Multicultural Programs, DPS, VIEW, CEO, LCB, Counseling & Health, ISSS and Commuter, Graduate and Transfer Student Programs and Services are also partnering with the Victim Support & Intervention Services to host the event.
