Drexel students accused of sexual assault against Temple student

According to the Special Victims Unit of the Philadelphia Police Department, three Drexel students were accused of sexually assaulting a Temple student Jan. 24. The three males were residents of Calhoun Hall, where the incident reportedly took place. The allegation is currently being investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department Special Victims Unit in cooperation with the Drexel University Police Department, James Katsaounis, executive director and senior vice president of Student Life and Administrative Services, wrote in an email.

Students gather for vigil to remember car crash victims

The Alpha Chi Rho fraternity held a vigil for John Williamson Jr. and Ian Alexander, two brothers that were killed in a car crash while on a fraternity trip in north-central Pennsylvania Jan. 25. Students bring homecoming tradition to campus

Drexel hosts watch party

Drexel University's Office of Government and Community Relations, Intercultural and Diversity Initiative and the Office of Student Life held a Presidential Inauguration Watch Party Jan. 20 to celebrate the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Michele Rovinsky, executive director of the Office of Equality and Diversity, said the estimated turnout was between 600-800 people, and included students, faculty and staff members.

CityRyde firm places in competition

Drexel University alumni Jason Meinzer and James Perkins, along with senior business administration major Timothy Ericson, founded CityRyde LLC, a bike sharing consulting firm in November 2007. The idea for CityRyde originated when Ericson studied abroad as part of the Drexel in London program.

Schools implement SAT Score Choice

As of spring 2009, students taking the SAT and SAT II Subject tests will have the choice to send either their collective scores from one specific test date or of sending only the top scores to colleges that they apply to, according to collegeboard.com. The new program, Score Choice, will be available to students entering colleges and universities in 2010.

Relay For Life aims for $75,000 donation goal

Relay For Life, an event in which teams and individuals raise awareness and donations for the American Cancer Society, will be held on campus April 4 and 5. The Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity hosts the 12-hour event, but is looking for support from the entire Drexel community, according to Nick Hoppel, co-chair for the event.

Former President leaves office with mixed reviews

As Barack Obama was sworn in Jan. 20 as the nation's 44th president, former President George Bush left the White House with mixed opinions on the legacy he left behind. A survey of recent entries and news articles show that the future view of Bush will depend on the outcome of the war in Iraq and the results of major policy decisions on national security.
