The Dragons jumped out to a big first half and cruised to the victory. They used a 22-5 run over an eight-minute stretch to build a 35-17 lead. The Midshipmen attempted a comeback late in the second half, rallying to within eight with just under four minutes remaining.

"When you play a postseason team like Drexel, you've got to be ready every moment," Lange said. "The game in the beginning got away from us."

The win kicked off the inaugural Philly Classic. The Dragons will play in three other games as part of the event against Virginia, Robert Morris, and either Howard or Loyola.

The basketball team was honored before the game because of their 2007 NIT appearance. A new banner was added in the rafters of the DAC to commemorate the team. Last season was the team's fourth NIT appearance in five years.

The men's soccer team was celebrated at halftime for winning the regular season CAA title. They owned an 8-2-1 record against CAA foes and went 11-4-3 overall. It was soccer's first regular season title since 1996.

The basketball team now travels to Fort Myers, FL Wednesday to take on Florida Gulf Coast. They return to Philadelphia Nov. 23 to play Robert Morris.
