Three honored at women's lax banquet

Three women's lacrosse players received awards at the season-ending Colonial Athletic Association awards banquet May 4. Junior Emily Hoesch was named First-Team All-CAA for the second consecutive season. Senior Colleen Rocks and freshman goalie Lauren LaBella were both named Second-Team All-CAA. LaBella was also named to the CAA's All-Rookie Team.
Hoesch, a midfielder, had simply an incredibly season for the Dragons. She broke her own Drexel records in goals (54) and points (70). She also led the team in draw controls, ground balls and caused turnovers. After just three seasons, Hoesch is Drexel's career leader in points and draw controls, and she is tied for second in assists and ranks third in goals.
Rocks will be sorely missed by the squad next season. She came on strong at the end of the season, tallying five goals in each of the final two games. She was also named the CAA co-Player of the Week for the week of April 17. Rocks is the school record holder for games played and started with 67 and ranks fifth all-time with 122 goals. Rocks was nothing short of spectacular this season, contributing 35 goals and 11 assists. She led the team in game-winning goals with four.
In only her first season, LaBella had one of the finest campaigns ever for a Drexel goalie. She led the CAA in goals against average with 8.59 and save percentage at .530. She ranked eighth in save percentage among all Division I schools and was 12th best nationally in goals against average. The team is fortunate to have LaBella in goal for three more years.
As a team, the Dragons had one of their finest seasons. Their final record was 12-5, an all-time high in wins for the program. The CAA championship semi-finals will take place May 5 with the finals two days later.
