Freshman diver Kate Hynes received All-Colonial Athletic Association honors for her outstanding performance at this year's CAA Championship. Even more impressively, Hynes was named Diver of the Year and Rookie Diver of the Year in a vote by CAA coaches.
Hynes won every diving competition at the CAA Championship and also set a new CAA meet record in the one-meter dive with 288.75 points. In the three-meter event, her winning score of 296.45 was 15 points better than her nearest competitor. Hynes went on to finish third in the three-meter event (272.40) and fourth in the one-meter dive (248.35) at the NCAA Zone meet.
Also honored was coach Larry May, who was named CAA women's diving Coach of the Year. May led the Dragons to seven top-10 finishes this season. Hynes took home two victories, and sophomore Stephanie Battaglia scored for the women with an eighth-place finish in the three-meter event. May also coached the Dragon men to top finishes at the conference championship. Brett Molash earned runner-up finishes in the one- and three-meter events, and Jacob Roberson earned a pair of fifth-place finishes in the one- and three-meter dives.
