North Campus Mall
This project will involve a series of landscaped paths and parks to link the academic core to the residential north end of campus. In August 2004, University President Constantine Papadakis requested a scheme that would incorporate a large enclosed landscaped quad near Kelly Hall and the redevelopment of the Myers Hall site. This plan also calls for the potential closure of Race and Cherry Streets between 32nd and 33rd streets. There is currently no official date for the closure. The estimated budget for the project is $8-$10 million.
Dean's Research Laboratory Renovation
An existing laboratory and small office were remodeled to meet the requirements for the research of Donna Murasko, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Five bids were submitted for the construction contract. Casework, a fume hood and biological safety cabinets have been installed along with plumbing for the casework. Basic construction work for the project was completed during the week of April 10. The estimated budget of $300,000.

So this is the cause for a tuition increase, gee I wonder what is the actual benefit of those improvements.
