Despite holding a 6-2 lead late in the first half, Drexel men's lacrosse was defeated by Binghamton 11-6, April 25. The loss dropped Drexel to a 5-8 record as they near the conclusion of the 2006 season.
After starting off down 2-0 to the Bearcats, the Dragons rattled off six straight goals to take a commanding lead. Drexel's scoring effort would dry up completely for the remainder of the game, however, as Binghamton scored the game's nine remaining goals to capture a surprisingly lopsided victory. Adding to the Dragons' woes were six penalties and their dismal success on face-offs, winning 33 percent.
Included in Drexel's only scoring run of the game were three goals by senior Jeff Pfeffer, who increased his season total to 22. Yoni Cohen, Mike Filippone and Matt Musci each also tallied first-half goals, but were unable to work any scoring magic in the second half of the contest.
The Dragons will return to Vidas Field April 29 for what is likely their final game of the season, when they will take on Yale. The Bulldogs come in with the same record as Drexel, and like the Dragons, they have struggled in late-season play this year.
