Drexel lost their home and Colonial Atheltic Association opener 58-51 to Towson Dec. 7.

The Dragons had the games' two highest scorers, Catherine Scanlon and Narissa Suber, but the rest of the team only managed 14 points. Scanlon led all scorers with a season-high 19 points and was the only Dragon to shoot 50 percent or better from the field. Drexel as a team shot only 29 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three-point range, both of which are well below their season averages.

N. Suber added 18 points, one for every field goal that she attempted. The Dragons continued to struggle from the field after shooting poorly in their last game, against East Carolina, as well. Towson jumped out to a early 9-2 lead, with Scanlon starting the game on the bench. Scanlon entered the game and Drexel went on a 7-0 run, ending with a Scanlon lay-up to tie the game with 11:34 remaining in the first half. The Dragons had difficulty scoring afterwards, as they only managed eight points for the rest of the half.

Towson was led by Tierra Jackson and Alis Freeman who both scored 17 points. The rest of the Tigers combined for 24 points, which was enough for them to beat Drexel for the first time in their last 13 meetings. Towson missed 15 foul shots, which helped the Dragons be able to stay in the game, but it wasn't enough for Drexel to overcome their poor shooting night.
