Oxholm expressed that no new law school becomes accredited as soon as inception occurs. The law school will operate for one full year and produce results that ABA can use for their assessment visit in Oct. 2007. If CoL meets all ABA standards and requirements it will become accredited by Aug. 2008 in time for the May 2009 graduation ceremony. It usually takes three years for any law school to receive ABA accreditation.

"Do not think that it is a gamble that the law school is not accredited," Oxholm said. "Rather, think of it as a great opportunity. The tuition at this law school will be at a price similar to that of Temple and Rutgers-Camden. In addition, students who score tremendously high on the LSAT [Law School Admissions Test] and have high GPAs will barely pay any money to attend this School."

Another piece that the law school will lack is an academic dean. According to Oxholm the search for an academic dean will begin Nov. 2006 and will be conducted by the Office of the Provost. They expect to announce the dean's name in July or Aug. 2007.

Oxholm is again not too concerned about this. "Students will have everything they need when they enter the school. The organization, structure and operations of the law school will be in place. When we hire the academic dean he will simply take on the vision that the University administration has designed and then run with it. Do not be worried at all because there is no dean at this college."

In regards to rankings and recognition from other law schools and rankings such as the US News & World Report, Oxholm is confident that the law school will reach the top tier by the end of the first academic year.

"This law school is already getting a real fast buzz across the country. Since we are striving for the best in all areas we will therefore receive great recognition."

According to Oxholm this law school sets itself apart from law schools across the country in many areas.
