Rockin' record bowls

These fabulous bowls are made out of old vinyl records. Most record stores have old/scratched albums for 25 cents to a dollar - or you can check out the Salvation Army. I personally recommend Barry Manilow or Jazzercise records - the funkier the better. If you are fortunate enough to run across colored records they make stunning bowls.
Materials Needed: old records, an oven safe jar or container, a cookie sheet, potholders, and an oven.
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 225 degrees. Place your container on the cookie sheet; place the record on top of the bowl.
2. Watch your album melt in the oven, it should take about 3-5 minutes. Thicker records take longer.
3. Take the cookie sheet out with the potholders and shape the record with your hands (Warning: it may be hot). You will need to hold the desired shape while it cools. It may be easier to put it in a bowl to shape it. If you aren't happy with the shape - melt it again. Try using different containers for different shapes.
4. The bowl can be used for just about anything: candy dishes, chip bowls, planters, catch-alls, target practice, etc.

I made these today for Christmas gifts. They are sooooo easy! I used a small stainless steel saucepan turned upside down in my oven. It melted the center quicker!
