The LeBow College of Business held a fireside chat May 10, giving business students the opportunity to stay abreast of developments within the college and voice their concerns.

LeBow Dean George Tsetsekos, along with Director of Recruitment and Retention Ian Sladen and LeBow Director of Student Services Brian Keech, presided over the event, which was sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Government Association.

In his opening remarks, Tsetsekos highlighted several new developments within the college, including a new strategic plan through 2009.
"The focus [of this plan] is to bring the business school to the top of all business schools by making it be recognized among its peers and enhancing the quality of the programs and services that we offer to our students," Tsetsekos said.

He indicated that the plan was approved by the faculty, and the college's advisory board gave strong support for the initiatives.

Earlier that day, Tsetsekos had been in a CoB staff meeting, at which it had been decided that an area needing improvement next year is the co-op cycle transition from academics to co-op and vice versa.

"[We] are engaged to serve the needs of our students, to continuously improve whatever we do," Tsetsekos said. "We do believe we have completely reoriented the overall marketing campaign of the business school and created awareness of what we do in the local business community and beyond."

Keech commented that the availability of Student Services goes beyond academic advising and encouraged students to utilize the offices to make their experience within CoB more successful.

Sladen discussed the success of the LeBow listserve, an electronic mailing service.

"The listserve was developed to serve you," Sladen said. "Although not everything necessarily applies to you ... look for the hits to outnumber the misses.

"We encourage all of you to get involved. The one common theme is community and connectivity. We're looking to improve all of our services and get you all involved. The more involved you are with LeBow, the more you have the opportunity to affect the weight of your degree."
