After starting the season unbeaten in their first four games, Drexel has now dropped two straight as they were shutout by St. Peter's, 1-0, in a September 22 non-conference match. The Dragons have now been held scoreless in consecutive games, and with the loss, their record for the season stands at 2-2-2. The Peacocks improved to 5-2 for the season with the home victory.

St. Peter's midfielder Rumen Kerekov scored the only goal of the contest on a header in the 78th minute. Matthew Lawlor made five saves for the Peacocks. Dragons' goalkeeper Cory Robertson, who was making his first start of the season, had three saves in the game. Drexel was outshot 14-11 for the match.

Since scoring three goals in the season opening win against a No. 16 Lehigh team, Drexel has been able to find the back of the net just twice in the five games since. They have won just one of those games, a 1-0 shutout victory over Rider in the Drexel Invitational Tournament. Although the team has only scored five goals in six games, they have given up just seven goals for the season, a positive sign for Drexel as they head into conference play.

Drexel's only other loss this season came against a Villanova team that was coming off of a 4-0 upset victory over No. 1 Duke and hadn't allowed a goal in three games. The Dragons would become the fourth team in a row to get shutout by the Wildcats as they dropped their first game of the season, 3-0.

Sophomore midfielder/forward Anthony Bafile leads the team with three goals and six points overall. The starting goalie in the first five games, Derrec Mongan has a 1.19 goals-against-average with two shutouts and has been in goal for both victories this season.

The Dragons' next game will be against Iona on Saturday, September 29, at 6 p.m. The game, which will be held at Vidas Field, will be the last non-conference match of the regular season as Drexel opens its CAA schedule on the road Oct. 5 against James Madison. Drexel was 2-9 last season in conference play, finishing in 11th place for the second year in a row.
