The Walnut Street Theatre's 200th season is coming to a close with Mel Brooks' Tony-Award winning musical, "The Producers." The comedy came to life as the local and international cast kept the audience in stitches. Every aspect of the production was fabulous and a perfect complement to the high-energy performance.
One of the things that I really enjoy about summertime is the movies. I love big blockbusters that are a little superficial and heavy on special effects and star power. Every summer, there is a new batch of big budget studio flicks that I cannot wait to see.
As well as "the year of the ox," 2009 is proving to be "the year of band comebacks." Many bands have reformed and returned to life on the road. No Doubt is one of these bands to head back out on tour this year. They were never officially broken up, but like many bands they were on a hiatus without a definite promise of when they would return.
Welcome back! I hope you all had a wonderful, exciting break. I have found quite the experience for our returning peers: Ommegang's Biere de Mars, literally, a trial-type brew. Biere de Mars is a Biere de Garde, a "beer to be guarded." Don't confuse this with the likes of the American Strong; Beire de Garde is strictly experimental, but the moniker is not catchall.
The American icon KFC is now a Chinese one as well. Beginning with a single store in 1987, KFC has grown to become the largest restaurant chain in the country, foreign or domestic. With over 2,000 restaurants in China, KFC outnumbers McDonald's two to one.
