The endless Drexel school year has finally come to an end. Finals are here and most of us are packed and ready to leave campus. Vacations have been planned and flights are booked. Most of us will be back in classes in a matter of months or by the end of June.

I believe that language is one of the most powerful tools in society. I have attended many different workshops about sexism - and one of the things I have noticed is the language that people use. There are words like "bitch," "pussy," and "whore," all of which are used in derogatory ways.

The Gulf Cooperation Council, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, is about 28 years old. It was established in 1981 in response to perceived increasing political risks in the Gulf region in the aftermath of the 1979 Iranian revolution and the 1980 Iraq-Iran War.
