Jhalak struggles at PhillyFest '09

The cheers that greeted Drexel's fusion dance team, Jhalak, as they took the stage at the PhillyFest competition Saturday night, were deafening. Defending their title as the number one fusion dance team in the nation, eight of Jhalak's nine female dancers brought everything they had to the stage.

MAD Dragon wins, showcases

Now in its eighth year, the internationally active Music Resource Group presented the Independent Music Awards recognizing upcoming stars in the music business. Awards range between the best songs, music videos, record companies, and other entities in various genres and, for the second year in a row, Drexel's own MAD Dragon Records took the title of "College Label of the Year.

Fort's high ABV knocks

If you are a regular reader of this column and its alternate writers, you most likely have at least heard of the name Dogfish Head Brewery, if not heavily sampled their various wares to begin with. Located in Rehoboth Beach, Dela. and run by a man who annually launches a keg of BMC (Bud-Miller-Coors) out of a "Punkin' Chunker" at an oversized toilet, Dogfish Head is well known for its unusual, sometimes extreme, but always delicious beers such as the World Wide Stout and the ever popular, 90 Minute IPA.

'O Captain' poetically honors former president

Theater is intended to delight the masses, yet in a genius quest to create something beautiful many viewers are often left behind. This production of "O Captain, My Captain: Whitman's Lincoln" was one of these performances. These posh proprietors own the modern Mexican BYOT (tequila), Lolita; the gourmet market, Grocery; home store, Open House; and in December 2007, opened their most recent addition, Bindi, a modern Indian BYOB.
