Students hold vigil for Mumbai attacks

Drexel Business Services announced Chick-fil-A as the winner of the "Place Your Order" survey and as the first named retail location in the new Dining Terrace located at 34th and Race streets. Over 3,200 Drexel University students placed their order during the week of Nov.

DU increases recycling on campus

Drexel University increased its recycling from 21.08 percent to 29.88 percent between 2007 and 2008, according to the 2008 Drexel Recycling Report. "Of course we would like to see it higher, but we have to look at the situation realistically," Vince Petaccio, a sophomore biomedical engineering major and member of Drexel Green, said.

New PR firm looks to expand

After launching 33rd Street Public Relations, an independent, student-run public relations and communications agency last year, Drexel's Public Relations Student Society of America is looking to get the organization off the ground. The firm is affiliated with PRSSA but is its own separate entity, according to PRSSA co-president and junior communications major Frannie DeFranco.

Students lead in crime prevention

The University City District has been asked to assist the Local Initiative's Social Corporation to come up with a large crime prevention plan for the area. Assistant Professor Robert Stokes met with the UCD over the summer and asked them if they had any issues with which Drexel Students could help.

Professor spreads hunger awareness

Mariana Chilton, an anthropologist and professor at Drexel University's School of Public Health, has created "Witness to Hunger," an exhibit featuring 40 female volunteers from the outreach portion of the Children's Sentinel Nutrition Assessment Program to tell their everyday stories.

Nutter discusses budget

Mayor Michael Nutter held a town hall meeting Dec. 2 in South Philadelphia High School to discuss and meet with Philadelphia communities about the proposed budget in lieu of the current recession. At the town hall, Nutter stated he wanted to answer the question of, "how did we get to the point where we are" in addition to "hearing from you" on issues which he said are "against the grain of what I have promoted as a political office for 15 years.

Drexel professor chosen to lead science council

Dov Jaron, Calhoun-distinguished professor of Engineering in Medicine in the school of Biomedical Engineering, has become the first-ever Drexel professor elected to the Executive Board of the International Council of Science. The ICSU is a non-governmental organization representing a global membership that includes both national scientific bodies and internatinal scientific unions.
