Spring Break
Three Drexel student athletes were recognized April 20 by The Philadelphia Inquirer as Academic All-Area performers of the year. Senior wrestler Ryan Hluschak, sophomore Gabriela Marginean of the women's basketball and tennis teams and junior diver Kate Hynes were each given the award for their respective sports, making it the first time that Drexel University has had three of its student-athletes receive the award in the same season.
If it was their last home game, Andrew Chapman and Bruce Bickford certainly made it a memorable experience. Chapman scored five goals and Bickford allowed just two goals, making 14 saves before giving way to backup Andy Blahut early in the fourth quarter, as the men's lacrosse team handily defeated Sacred Heart 15-4 on Senior Day, April 19, at Vidas Field.
The men's and women's basketball teams celebrated their seasons at the Annual Men's and Women's Basketball Awards Banquet April 23 at the Bossone Atrium. During the banquet, Nicole Hester was officially honored with the V Foundation Comeback Award for winning her battle against Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
