Typically, we don't like to point out the accomplishments of individual students in this space, but Nicole Hester is not a typical individual. Playing forward on the Drexel women's basketball team, Hester has become a beacon of inspiration not just on campus, but also all over the country.
Facebook has become one of the most popular Internet networking sites, not only for college-goers, but also for anyone with an e-mail address. I know I can attest to this, and when you walk around the halls, library and dorms while computer screens are up and students are surfing, you're more than likely to see someone eagerly searching through Facebook.
As General David Petraeus prepared to deliver his semiannual flim-flam act before Congress, and our worthy legislators assumed the position before him as usual, a look at the future was just spooled on CNN. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki launched a sudden strike on Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi army in Iraq's port, Basra, breaking a truce of more than a year, and had to be bailed out after the battle spread throughout southern and central Iraq, first by American and British air strikes, then by follow-up American infantry (the Brits want no part of that "getting shot at" business anymore), and finally by an Iranian general who arranged a ceasefire.
After years of struggle, I have finally come to accept that we live in a two-party system. I have accepted the bounds of the Democratic and Republican parties and begun to work within the system. I have, in short, joined the Drexel Democrats. I have come to partially support the seductive, but ultimately disappointing, party for which that organization is named.
