It doesn't take much to see that there is a lack of tradition at Drexel. According to Drexel's Wikipedia page, rubbing the toe of the Waterboy statue in the Main Building to get good grades is just about all we've got. Sure, there's Crystal Ball, Spring Jam, basketball games, convocation, and a mixed bag of other events.
Is it a bad thing for a politician to act like a politician? I suspect that politicians act the way they do because they have to act that way to achieve their objectives, even if the objectives are good ones. (I leave it to you to decide which objectives are good and which are not).
Dear Editor, Regarding Abraham Brown's thoughtful Jan. 25 column, "America needs to rethink ineffective marijuana prohibition," if health outcomes determined drug laws instead of cultural norms, marijuana would be legal. Unlike alcohol, marijuana has never been shown to cause an overdose death, nor does it share the addictive properties of tobacco.
An Internet collective known only as "Anonymous" has turned its considerable power against the Church of Scientology. Prompted by the Church of Scientology's latest attempts to ban a leaked video of Tom Cruise portraying Scientologists in a light that some might deem a little crazy, Anonymous declared war against Scientology in a video posted to YouTube and a press release distributed online.
Every year, I get a multitude of e-mails saying that I should submit my idea for improving the campus to President Papadakis for the chance to win a cash prize at graduation. While the prospect of receiving a paycheck along with my diploma sounds great, I'd rather print my ideas in The Triangle where they can be mulled over by the entire University, instead of just send them in an e-mail that hopefully will be read by Taki.
In his final State of the Union Address to Congress, President Bush attempted to lay out his plan for his last year, and talk about his "accomplishments" since he took office in 2001. In his address, Bush once again painted a rosy picture of an Iraq where liberty and freedom were taking root thanks to his troop surge.
