2007 freshman class stats

At 2,410 students, the incoming 2007 freshman class is second largest class in Drexel history, second only to the 2002 incoming class. With the inclusion of the new freshman class, the University has reached approximately 11,000 full-time undergraduates, and 20,250 overall, which includes all undergraduate students, all graduate students, medical students, law students, part-time students, and online students.

Parking Lottery eliminated

Starting this Fall, Drexel parking passes will be made available to all faculty, staff, and students. Drexel students will no longer be subject to lottery or waiting list when applying for parking permits thanks to the completion of the parking garage renovation.

Drexel alumna anchors on ESPN

Quick - name one non-basketball athlete that graduated from Drexel. That piece of trivia is a pretty tall order for many Drexel students. After today, you will know at least one. Chris McKendry, a 1990 Drexel graduate, has found success in the media world as an anchor at ESPN's SportsCenter after playing Division I tennis for the Dragons.

West-Ford, 47, dies of cancer

Dr. Jacquelyn West-Ford, senior associate dean of students, died Sept. 6 in Phoenixville Hospital of colon cancer at the age of 47. West-Ford worked at the University for over two decades and began working with student life in 1997, according to a University press release.

Government looks to increase Pell grants

Congress passed legislation Sept. 7 to increase grants for college students, lower interest rates on student loans, and forgive debt to students who enter public service. Under the "College Cost Reduction Act" the maximum Pell Grant award would increase from $4,050 to $5,400 by 2012.
