Students began waiting in line for tickets at 2:15 p.m. Freshman Edward Ostapowicz was first in line, but had his laptop and friends for company. When interviewed by the Triangle, he said that he was willing to have a good time at the Dec. 3 show.
"We're hoping to sell out," CAB Co-Director of Traditions Chrissy Bush said. Bush also said CAB had several requests from the student body to bring Cook to Drexel's campus.
Approximately 800 seats were available for event, which will be held in Main Auditorium.
Tickets were $15 each, triple the cost of previous comedy show tickets. CAB Co-Director of Traditions Kristen Johnson said CAB aims to increase their revenue to host a larger Spring Jam in 2005.
"[Dane Cook] has been my favorite comedian since high school," Jen Gray, a junior, said. She had set-up a study table borrowed from Creese Student Center while she waited.
At 4 p.m. the line of 150 students had stretched to the Mandel Theatre lounge. More than half of the students waiting had laptops playing music, or clips of a Dane Cook show. One group of students brought a small television and Game Cube, rotating their three controllers among the four freshmen.
"I'm hoping [Cook] does a new routine," Sebastian Weigand said, after pausing his game.
By 5 p.m. the line stretched through Creese, down into the Commuter Lounge, and out into the sunken Quad, to end at Ecco Qui. CAB staff distributed line tickets to prevent students from cutting into the line.
Two University Public Safety officers stood at the sales window, as some students were turned away for tickets because they did not have a line ticket.
The last ticket was sold at 8:45 p.m. That did not stop some students from trying to get access to the event.
An e-mail was sent to the College of Engineering list serve by a student requesting tickets at a "negotiable" price Nov. 16. According to the Dane Cook Web site, Cook rarely publicizes his shows, but is always sold-out.
