Even though the Drexel field hockey team did not make the NCAA Tournament despite having its best season in Drexel history, its players were rewarded with monumental awards.
Three players were chosen to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association First Team All-Mid Atlantic Region Team. Susan Ciufo, Carolina Gibernau and Colleen McAndrew were honored with these achievements. This marks the first time in Drexel history that three players were honored.
Ciufo broke the single-season record for points (47) at Drexel and tied the single season goals mark (19). The First Team All-CAA forward was also named the CAA Player of the Week earlier this season and was picked to womensfieldhockey.com's Weekly Honor Roll.
Gibernau set Drexel's single-season record for assists (12) and was just the second Drexel player to be named First Team All-Region in two seasons. She was also the only player in Drexel history to be named to two CAA All-Championship Teams.
McAndrew, a two-time Second Team All-CAA selection, ranked in the top 10 in the nation in save percentage and the top 20 in goals against average, allowing just one goal per game in conference games this season. She leaves Drexel as the school's leader in career wins and has the highest winning percentage of any goalie in Drexel history.
