Constructing a Web site

Abstract:
Have you ever been in a rush to get to classes and ran into a big blue tarp when trying to get through the Quad? Have you gotten lost amongst piles of poles and dirt while trying to find your way into the gym? Have you heard rumors about a Taco Bell in the Hagerty Library and went to check it out, only to find a crowded set of tables and no food in sight but lame Sodehxo snacks? Have you crashed into a fence surrounding Kelly? If any of the above situations apply to you, you may agree with our simple request....

While I agree a website with exact details would be great, maybe Drexel would give your editorials some weight if you actually wrote them respectfully. It is full of unnecessary negatives. I think the best website in the world wouldn't help you gain or maintain "a positive attitude" for any length of time.

P.S. The Recreation Center is on the exact same time line since it began and at the last Town Hall Meeting Jim Tucker gave exact details of when each part would open. The new dormitory is also on track and has always been set to open for the Fall. The Integrated Sciences Building has hit some delays as, I'm sure you know, the quad path used to be a road, so there is a lot of utility lines under it. They experienced delays in moving them. This was also reported at the last town hall, as well as details regarding the roadblocks for Taco Bell. I saw you didn't mention the strip of restaurants by Kelly, since that one is being erected very fast...

It sounds like if the Triangle had just devoted a comprehensive article to the last town hall, everyone would know the details you are seeking.

Drexel's department of planning, design and construction has a website though it usually offers very little detail and doesn't seem to be updated in a very timely fashion. It's still a fairly helpful resource if you want to learn a bit more about things popping up around campus.

The campus master plan is also available here. It makes for an interesting read when you have a bit of free time on your hands!

Bravo, Anonymous! Triangle editors, you have a unique position to reflect on both the positives and 'opportunities for improvement' on our campus. Complaining about multi-million dollar construction jobs in the midst of the worst recession is not only mis-guided, but also reveals a selfish stance. Really??? You criticize multiple construction projects on campus when un-employment is at a 20+ year high?? The only project that has been delayed is the Integrated Science Building and the reason for those delays were not forseeable.

Would a website showcasing our multiple construction projects be a good idea? Of course. Should that website inform our Drexel family and guests about any possible road closures and impedence to traffic? Again, of course. The fact that such a website does not exist is one of those 'areas of opportunity' that I mentioned earlier. There was no need to put a negative spin on your very good idea - you could have brought us to your conclusion in a much more positive (and productive!) manner.

Agreed with what the previous posters said, plus I'd rather not have Drexel spend resources - time, money and people to update this website - when they could be spending them on more useful things. The minor inconveniences from the ongoing construction do not warrant this.
