When I first had watched the movie and it said based on a true story I did belive it I knew alot was made up but after researching on it I know now the truth.in the movie it says the dad was being possesed and forced to try and kill his family the lutz's say their story is true but nothing I have read about their story explains that that had ever happened. I wish someone would just say the truth obviously the lutz's story is made up a bit I do belive in ghosts and spirits so some stuff could be true but how the movie portrayed it that is a bit of a hoax.

But the ronald dafoe story. why the hell would he kill his whole family so many rumors went on about why. in the movie it said he was being told and possesed to do it also but now I hear him and his sister dawn killed their whole family they plotted to do it then ronnie killed dawn the whole story is just a little screwed up I wish I knew the truth about what happened in 1974 and with the lutz family. I wonder if any of their children today can tell what had happened to them in the house. oh well just another hoax or truth I guess I will never know

...do some more research. The Lutzes did NOT have a garage sale, they sent back friends and their things were auctioned off. George denies he had any financial problems.

The Lutzes did not become "flush with cash"... actually, they tried to SUE the film companies to STOP MAKING SEQUELS.

Weber has his own motive to lie and say it was a hoax... how many "normal" people would hire a lawyer who had a proven belief in the supernatural?

The "Red Room" was not a pipe closet, and that's what was weird. The Lutzes NEVER claimed that it was the site of "rituals"... that was an invention of the film and book.

Doors... see, the thing is, they can be replaced. And did you see the picture of the ashes? No, it's not very clear, but to someone who was already freaked out it could easily be seen as a skull or demon face.

As for your point about calling and cancelling an appointment... where exactly did you get THAT? Never heard of it before.

My suggestion is simple... you don't need to believe, but do all of your research on both sides. And keep in mind "debunkers" make up just as much bull as "hoaxers" sometimes.
